Photo Hunt #27 - Steps

About Theme: Steps Roll

I wish I live near these steps...these would be perfect in sculpting my legs without drying out my milk. This was taken at Gaylord ( I can't get past the name), a lovely convention center/resort nearby.

Photo Hunt #20 - Salty

Theme: Salty Become a Photo Hunter View Blogroll

This was from a trip DH and I and DS2 took back in April of 2002. I can still recall the cool salty wind on my face.

These are taken somewhere between Miami Beach and Palm Beach.

Wordless Wednesday Vol. 3

Is there a wordless video?

I am so thrilled! Photobucket made my video work!
Here is my DS2, he loves to sing. He loves to read, and we're learning fingering on piano too. He's multi-talented, and he loves helping me clean house! You can click on the "labels" on this post to see what DS2's up to.

And then there was soda

I wish, I wish I had my camera handy a little while ago.

DS2, my 5 years old was in the kitchen. I wasn't really paying attention to what he's doing. I think I was too busy sighing my self-satisfied sigh because I just cleaned my kitchen floor.

If you've been reading this blog a while, you will notice that I have a thing for my floors. Some husbands might worry that their wife is going to cheat on them, spend too much money, or go shopping too much...not me. I am already heavily involved with my floor. This is one of the reasons why.

So, here I was, all sweaty and feeling accomplished when I hear an unmistakable sound of a pouring soda. I know soda shouldn't be given to kids. I know this. But my husband loves soda, so blame him! :) Honey, if you're reading this, I'll pay you back, 'k?

DS2 is a very independent, self-possessed and smart child. I don't think he had asked me to pour him anything since he'd learn the trick of pouring anything he likes into a glass at the age of two. So, tonight is no difference.

Accidents happened, and I hear the swoosh of a spurting soda. When I looked back at him, aglow with self-congratulations, it's to see the soda making a perfect arch as it spurt out of the bottle and down into my newly cleaned, orange-smelling, shinny, feels-good-to-the-feet-kitchen-floors.

I finished my drink, took a deep breath and commence looking for something to dry my floors with. My son, smart boy that he is, noticed that he'd just messed up my newly cleaned floors. He said:
Mommy, don't worry. I will clean it all up. Don't worry Mommy.
He disappeared towards the direction of my linen closet, where I kept my towels. A few minutes later, he came back with an armful of white face towels...

Now, let me tell you about my thing with whites and stains. I'm off to read my books.

He's Into Laundry now*

Every so often, my children would be obsessed with something. One time, my daughter wanted to spread everything creamy on my walls. No lipsticks, face creams, lotions, or lip liners is safe from her. My first son was into scrubbing my floor. He'll gladly sponge and scrub at the floor no matter what state it's in. I also have a nephew who's into relocation. Whereever something, he'll move it somewhere else. It's part of being a child I guess.

Then along came my second son. He's a warrior, and he's obsessed with laundry. Too bad I didn't have a picture of the time he put together the computer back after I had dismantled it because he was in it too much. He was barely two. I wasn't aware he could color code the wires. I was amazed.

Now back to the laundry. I have proof! I had to make this post today because he finally understood the rules of laundry. I used to find my whites with reds and blacks. I keep telling him, "Sweetie, all whites or all blacks." And he'd look at me and go away.

Step 1, at two years old

Well today, the washing machine was empty all morning. He finally took matters into his hand. I passed him by and saw that it was loaded with blacks. He told me, "Mommy, we're doing blacks now." Okay.

Step 2,he's really careful here Step 3, it's tough operating under mommy's radar

Except, I was pretty sure I have no black loads left. I had beiges and whites, but blacks were all done yesterday. Sure enough, a closet-ful of his navy blue uniforms in my washer. All pants in his closet.

And there we have it. My laundry-obsessed child is still laundry obsessed years later. This son of mine is very helpful around my house. D and I love him for it! Flying laundry detergent and all.

Step 4, touch down!this would be him

*that song "In the Army now", it hums inside my head when I see him near my washer and dryer.

This is what "HELP YOU" means

One morning, I was sleeping late and my husband walked in on my darling son (DS3). Being a wonderful husband that he is, he made sure I don't miss a moment of what's going on.

Sorry Mommy. I spilled. Don't worry Abba, I got it!

Nope, he's not worshipping an invisible floor G-d.

I'll give you two guesses!

Boy! Aren't I glad I am fanatic about my floor. When they're small I sterilize everything that comes in contact with their mouths. So you can imagine my dismay when I saw my first child doing similar activity with my floor.
