Garden Again

We had a garden in our old house. Since we moved, we missed our flowers, even though we could just have walked over if we want to say "hello" to it.

Today, we decided to go shopping for new flowers. We have begonia, because they're so beautiful when blooming and fat! We have other flowers too, but I don't remember their names. I will post pictures later.

It was really sweltering (my baby just came over, stick his hands inside my shirt and grab my breast! His mouth open and making unhappy noises already because I am still typing) when we picked our plants.

We're going to plant it tomorrow because we're going out to eat now. I couldn't possibly prepare food in my kitchen now...there's too many stuff out there and I don't feel like putting it in order. So, we go out.

Not so Pointless

I haven't done this quizzes in a long while. I thought I'll take one. Actually, I don't think the code is working, and I don't want to take another test. This one says "Completely Pointless Personality Test." I took another one. I was a liberal Rocket Scientist. Really! What does liberal means exactly? Does it involve running around naked in the backyard? Because I have done that.

I was only 8 years old at that time, but is that liberal? I also use a lot of sugar in my coffee, back in the days before I switch my allegiance to tea. I use a liberal amount of sugar in my sweet potato, also. I guess the quizz result below fits. I am a liberal!

I have such a wonderful day today. We took all of us to see The Simpsons on big screen. It was another wonderful time. I can't believe it. DH and I like going out for movies. Since we don't have a reliable person to trust our kids with so late in the evening, we decided to bring them with us. It was wonderful!

Hmmm, I think blogger's going bananas today. I have made some post earlier and it wasn't posting. Oh well, it's past midnight now. I just want to say that I am enjoying THE TENANTS OF WILDFELL HALL by Anne Bronte. It is not an easy feat for me to enjoy this. The previous book I was listening to was HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS by JK Rowling. Have you ever heard Jim Dale on HP series?

If you haven't, you must! You have missed so much. This guy is simply fantastic. He reads so wonderfully, there is never confusion who's speaking the lines. I simply love listening to HP series becauseo of him. I really wish he would read another series. Maybe Artemis Fowl, or the Redwall series maybe. Then I'll get to know what those books are.

Not Again!

Damages:
$6.00 = Bubble gum flavor mouth rinse
$9.99 = Apple scented shampoo
$5.00 = Orange scented floor cleaner
$7.50 = Pomegranate flavored hand soup
$$ = 1 dozen towels wet and thrown on the floor which I had to wash
$$$$ = washing machine repair

It's very expensive on weekends when my DS2 is bored. Today he was. He doesn't really bother me. He finds his own entertainment. I looked in on him and found him diligently washing a small towel with orange scented floor cleaner. He used the towel to clean the window.

I went to my room and grab a book to relax and read, when I step into the hallway to get something to drink, I almost slipped. DS2 had "cleaned" my floor by washing it first. He just forgot to dry it afterwards. Two more towels to the rescue!

There's a calling for a Backgammon game online, so I played three games. When I went to the kids' bathroom to change some dirty diapers, it was to find an empty bottle of shampoo and bubble gum flavored mouth rinse. DS2 was wiping the sink dry. The bathroom is slippery, but it smelled great!

I didn't feel like cleaning really, but the pile of towels is now piling up. I collected them all for washing. That's when I found out that my washing machine won't work. Dead as a doornail. *sob*

What am I supposed to do with the ever-growing pile of laundry now? I called my trusty Sears home repair. I pay them yearly for things like this. I was told I wasn't recorded anywhere on their file. WTF! It was late in the afternoon and nothing to be done.

We dressed the kids up, go to the mall and walked 5.0 miles today. Two strollers, 5 kids, in another van because I had lost my headlight in a collision when we were shopping for garden stuff. Walking has become a nice family time for us. We can spend time together talk and exercise. We were done after two hours.

We're in the middle of painting outside; I think they're almost done. I hope! I can't really say if I like it off white. I had my heart set on wear-your-sunglasses-white. Evidently, that wasn't so good because of something or the other. The paint from DS3's hair finally came off today. I thought I had to cut short his hair, but we can hold on a little while longer.

In a home with five children, I find that I cannot live without vacuum cleaner, dust pan and broom, towels, washing machine, and books. Cleaning is better left after every one's asleep!

That's Just The Way Things Are

Remember when I said I was all done a few days ago? I really meant it. I was going to try.

Yesterday, we went walking in the mall. We're already done and on the way out when we saw the mall security talking to a worried-looking woman. She's Hispanic and she has two daughters with her. We stopped by and see what was the matter because DH heard snippets of "this is what he looks like.." and we thought a lost child.

This woman, I never got her name, lost her 4 year old son near the bathrooms. This mall has a 1-mile circular aisle, kind of like a race-tract. We had just put it our 6 miles. DH and I didn't even hesitate; we offered to help them look for their child. We decided to put in another mile while looking for this woman's child.

His name is Wyatt, he's wearing blue shirt, brown pants, cowboy boots, and have a sandy blond hair. So we walked, all the while feeling for this mother. I had misplaced DS3 once in this mall. I looked away, and he had walked .3 miles to the nearest kiddy playground. There is no horror as deep as discovering your child can't be found.

About a 3rd of a mile, the woman and her two girls turn back the way they came from. We keep going anyway just in case. We kept on walking and looking for little boys with blue shirt, cowboy boots, brown pants and sandy blond hair. About 3/4 of a mile through, my daughter stopped and said, "Mommy, I just saw a boy in blue shirt and cowboy boots running past me." DH and I never saw him.

We stopped and let our Darling Daughter find out if it's the right child. I looked over while watching my little ones and saw a child which fit the description. He also looked like he belongs to a family looking at a stuffed toy kiosk. DH said, "Are you Wyatt?" When this little boy looked with recognition, DD said, "Are you lost?" Wyatt replied, "I can't find my mother."

The weird thing is, he doesn't look upset at all. We told him to stay put because his mother was looking for him and we had to call security to get him. I forgot to ask his Mom's phone number. When we finally have the mother picked up his little boy, she looks so relieved, you can feel it. Then she gave my DD a huge hug and thanked her profusely for finding her little boy.

We offered to help find this little boy after our discussion of only minding our own business and let others worry about theirs. This one happened to have a happy ending. We're glad to help, and glad to find the boy. I guess it is in our nature to want to help.

The thing to do now is pick a situation where it won't be so stressful to me or my family. I just have to recognize if my help will be enough or is it time to just say, "I am sorry, but this is bigger than I can handle."

It's in our nature, I and my family, are glad to help.

Eating with Lola

“There is no way to be a perfect mother, and a million ways to be a good one”
Jill Churchill
Today, my husband spontaneously suggested we share a family meal. Meaning my sister and her family, my mother and my brother who lives next door, and us. My sister just ate, and so, we went to see Lola (my mother) at her work by ourselves.

On the way, we picked up some Boston Market food. I didn't feel like cooking or baking anything just yet. I make some rolls and stuff, but I am not in full-steam cooking mode or is it mood?

I like it when we do stuff together. My kids love it. In fact, DS3 was all ready to stay and work with Lola. We had to drag him away while he screamed "I want Lola. I want to stay." Yes, he was very articulate because it's something he really wanted.

Here's some pictures we took withDH's camera phone. I forgot my "real" camera, but this one's not bad.

My daughter once told me that when she's grown up and have children, I'll be like Lola for her. What she really meant was for me to be there for her like my mother is for me. She's looking forward to it. So, here's hoping I am half the mother my Mama is.
