Photo Hunt #20 - Salty

Theme: Salty Become a Photo Hunter View Blogroll

This was from a trip DH and I and DS2 took back in April of 2002. I can still recall the cool salty wind on my face.

These are taken somewhere between Miami Beach and Palm Beach.

What a Day!

DH and I just got home from a "real" date! I left my baby with my mother and he slept the whole time we went to see a movie SMOKIN' ACES. I don't understand why Ben Affleck got the top billing. There were too many "good" actors in there and not enough lines or time to develop any character. It was fun to watch though.

I was thinking the movie is a bit like PULP FICTION, and body count like FROM DUSK TIL DAWN, that Clooney/Hayek movie from way back when. I like the soundtrack towards the end. Really good music there.

Any time I get to snuggle in the dark with my darling is a great time. Did I mention that DS4 stayed home with my mother? I was leaking milk all over! My chest was soaked with milk (is it dairy if it's from human?) by the time we went out. Grrr, cold!

I am just remembering my DS3, who's potty training himself told me in a British accent - picture Oliver here in that soup scene...

"Mommy, it's a poop!"

Even if he didn't tell me, I can smell it already. The only thing about my potty training kid is he loves to go around in his birthday suit. I am positively tuckered out following him around putting his clothes on. I mean, really. What made him think that just because he's going to use the big boy's bathroom now, he has to go naked?!

He's got a sense of humor, this child of mine. He had figured out that smell gets to me. So, today, he held up his hand and said,

"Mommy, it's a poopy finger!"

then he'd laugh so hard he starts snorting.

DS4 took 4-5 steps today. He's showing off to my MIL who came by for a short visit on her way to work.

Now, every one's nice and snug asleep in their beds. We're not going to mention the few kids who have relocated and taken over MY bed. They're like kittens. They move in my bed at night and I wake up with multiple appendages on my face. How do I go about tossing them off my bed anyway? Any ideas?

The Hick Meets Tech*

After agonizing days of choosing new cell phones, hours of pondering the qualities of each and every cingular cell phone offerings, we finally got phones. New, hip, stylish and very much technologically advance.

Actually, DH did all of the above, I was watching him do all that, and I tell you, I was all stressed out looking at all the choices they have out there. I was so tired thinking of all he had to do to make it happen, I took myself shopping three times just to release all that stress. Whew! I survived the cell phone expedition...err, DH looking for cell phone.

I tell you, if it were me, I'd have gone cell-phone-less indefinitely if I have to decide. It was so much quieter without a cell phone. No obligation to answer...*cough*not that I oblige myself into answering*cough*...I mean, I am quite busy with the business of raising five children. Phone answering is not on my top 5, unless DH is out, then I dive for it, wherever my little children may have hidden dropped put it. It's because I really love my DH. He's the best there is. Just witness all the trouble he went through so we could join the land of the living again.

My phone has video, camera, music player and all other newfangled thingimagigs that I couldn't possibly understand! I leave that to my Lil Bro. He's coming next week maybe, and I'll pick his brains then. Yegads! Why must English language be so cannibalistic?

I was actually in the middle of my other obsession. I will give you two guesses what they are.

Just got back from sweating over my floors. I am very happy now. After spending over an hour trying to figure out how to extract images from this sucker, aka cell phone, I finally found an obscure folder NOT named "images". How user friendly is that!?

I'm really happy with the phone. My trigger happy fingers are too.

For Your Own Good, Darling!

One of our many agreements before my darling husband and I got married was that he wouldn't tell me what to wear, how to wear my hair or clothes, and stuff like that. Did I say that right? Yeah, I think I did.

After we got married, I noticed almost right away that D [that's my darling husband], detest jeans. It's a strong dislike, and he wouldn't be caught dead wearing one. It has something to do with an Orchestra teacher. He used to play the violin for years and years.

Anyway, it's really bad for him because I have a great love for jeans. I do. Later on, I am going to hunt around my album and find a picture of me in jeans. I look fabulous in it. I used to anyway. It doesn't really matter if I don't look as fabulous with it now, because I love jeans.

The other day, we have this conversation. I don't exactly remember how it goes, but it's something like this...

DH: We should burn all those jeans
Me: Aren't jeans great?
DH: You could wear them another day (facetiously)
Me: I surely can't darling. I love jeans. I am wearing jeans for your own good. If I stopped, I'll have to call you my a*bus*ive spouse because you told me what to wear!
LOL. Sometimes, I just cracked myself up. That's my point of view. D mentioned writing his point of view of the conversation later. We'll see if he gets around to it.

Thursday Thirteen #5 - Happy 15 Years!

Thirteen Things about Shoshana

Tomorrow is my 15th year anniversary. I can't believe it's been that long already! It's been a most wonderful years. Happy Fifteen Years of Marriage To US!

1. First sight. I was worried if my husband-to-be would like me as I am this tiny girl of barely 5'2", and not quite 80 pounds! Plus, I'd just gotten sunburned from my beach vacation. If you're typical Filipino, then we all know what even dark and sunburned means. Turned out, he thought I was the prettiest woman there ever was! I thought he was hot! What can I say, I was 18 and "deep."

2. Wedding. My Mama walked me down the aisle. My Papa was kind of late, but he got there before I say "I do" We have lots of guests. I still have no idea how that restaurant managed a sit-down meal for an additional last minutes 4 dozen people. I remember all our three weddings. Yep, 3!

3. Disbelief. O.M.G. Has it been 15 years?! And here I thought I'm only 18!

4. Raising a wife. My husband did a wonderful job raising a wife! All this wife needs is books, lots of it, and cartoon movies along with all 5-hanky movies I can find. My wonderful husband sat and enjoyed it all with me. Remember Joyluck Club? What a tear-jerker of a movie that was.

5. Disaster Dates. I'll have to post another time. Let's just say, it's fortunate that didn't happen before the "I do's" or there'd be 5 less children on this earth!

6. After 5 years of honeymoon, we decided to start a family. We were so excited when I got pregnant with The Girl. Except we don't know she was a girl until her birth day.

7. I was so light and tiny, my husband could span his fingers round my waist. On a full stomach, it was 22.

8. I kept my hair one-length and long, DH trims it for me.

9. Playing chauffeur. I didn't drive til I really have to. So DH drives me wherever I wish to go, which is mostly to the malls and bookstores around town.

10. In 15 years, I can barely recall any quarrel. We have disagreements, but we don't have quarrels...which means, we didn't have make-up sex all that much.

11. I remember all the births we go through together and hearing our babies cry for the first time.

12. We found out were awesome parents too.

13. We still love each other and go out on dates like we're newly weds.

Thursday Thirteen #4 - Happy Birthday to my Darling Husband

Thirteen Things about Shoshana
Thirteen reasons why I love my husband, D. Thirteen is not enough, but it's hardly a good start, however, this is TT, and thirteen it is. In no particular order.

1. He's perfect for me. I've look all around, and found him the best for me. Let's put it this way. If I had sat down and put into words what I'd like in a husband, he'd be it. I am very fortunate to have him.

2. He totally supports my love of books. I love everything and anything about books. He doesn't mind that I've accumulate a wall-full of books. In fact, he's gotten me a warehouse-full of books. What a guy!

3. He's considerate, thoughtful, sweet. If there's something that I like, but am too lazy to get or request, he knows and will get me plenty. I could get spoiled if I let myself.

4. He can read my mind. Not all the time, but often enough to be disconcerting.

5. D happens to have the best sense of humor. Dry and funny. He can always get me out of my dooldrums. Such an added bonus for a person who can go into a deep end over sticky floors.

6. Here's five reasons right here. They're absolutely fantastic, one and all.

7. He makes sure I get one of my heart's desire; to breastfeed my kids as long as I can and want. I would have quit a millions times ago, but it's amazing what encouragement can do.

8. He's sensitive and is not afraid to go with me on my 5-hanky-girly movies. I can watch all the Grey's Anatomy I want, ogle all the cute stars I like, all without being snippy.

9. My husband can write. He write wonderful letters. And according to him, I wrote the best. It's how we come to know each other years ago. Otherwise, I'd still be single now at the rate which my mother allowed me to date. I love how he reads stories to me aloud. I love everything about him.

10. I love his sense of fairness. How he's always ready to defend the hapless. He's never afraid to stick his neck out to help others. It's wonderful to be around that spectacular character.

11. He's the best person to spend time with just enjoying each other's company.

12. I love him because I can't order him around. I know I tried for close to 15 years now.

13. I love how he worries and make plans for our children's future. One child would worry us more at different times than at others. I love how he made us all feel love and perfectm just as we are. With him, I never feel inadequate. He makes me see just what a fabulous person I am.

There's so much more about him, but I only got thirteen...and since we just got back from celebrating my mother's birthday, all of my #6 reasons why I love him are all awake and jumping.

Happy Birthday Sweetie, and Happy 15th year anniversary!
